Our Mission
At RLS Swim Academy (formerly ISR Sartell Swim), our mission is simple, yet incredibly meaningful: to equip children with the life-saving skills they need to be safe, confident, and capable in and around the water. Every lesson we teach is rooted in one purpose—preventing drowning, one child at a time.
Located in the heart of Sartell, Minnesota, we’re proud to serve the community we call home by providing high-quality swim instruction that goes beyond the basics. While water safety will always be our foundation, our goal is to help every child continue growing, from survival skills to confident, independent swimming and advanced stroke development.
At RLS Swim Academy, we believe swimming is more than a sport or a recreational activity, it’s an essential life skill. Through patience, encouragement, and personalized instruction, we strive to build confidence, foster resilience, and empower children to accomplish more than they ever thought possible.
As our academy continues to grow, so does our commitment to serving more families, expanding opportunities for swimmers of all ages and abilities, and creating a trusted place where children can develop skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.
Thank you for considering RLS Swim Academy to be part of your child’s swimming journey. Together, we’re building confident swimmers, stronger families, and a safer community—one child at a time.
Meet Your Instructors!
Alyssa Mohs
Founder/CEO and Certified ISR Instructor at RLS Swim Academy. As a mother of four, I know firsthand the importance of keeping children safe, especially around water. After learning that drowning is the leading cause of death in children ages 1-4, water safety & swimming skills were a priority for our family early on. However, following many years of traditional swimming lessons, I was looking for more—I wanted my children to have the skills to survive if they ever encountered water unexpectedly, to be able to find air independently, and an exit, if necessary.
Infant Swimming Resource® (ISR) is a globally recognized program that teaches infants and young children survival swimming skills. After years of patiently waiting for a Certified ISR® Instructor to offer these lessons in our area, I decided to become one myself.
In addition to being a certified ISR Instructor, I am also certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and First Aid. I hold a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) degree, am a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and am currently pursuing my Master of Business Administration (MBA).
These qualifications, combined with my experience as both an instructor and a mother of four, deeply influence the way lessons are designed and delivered at RLS Swim Academy. It’s not only about teaching children survival swimming skills; it’s about providing a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment where they can build confidence and develop life-saving abilities.
Miss Abby
Sometimes the best partnerships happen by chance! Abby and Alyssa first met while searching for a lifeguard for a child’s birthday party, and it didn’t take long to realize they shared the same vision: providing high-quality, confidence-building swim instruction that truly puts children first.
In August 2024, Abby officially joined the RLS Swim Academy team to give our students a seamless opportunity to continue their swimming journey after completing their Initial ISR program. Her dedication to each swimmer, encouraging teaching style, and passion for helping children succeed have made her an invaluable part of our academy.
Abby brings several years of swim instruction experience, having taught both private and group lessons at other local swim facilities. She is also a member of the dive team at the College of Saint Benedict, where she continues to grow her knowledge and love for aquatics and education in Occupational Therapy.
Whether she’s helping an ISR graduate gain confidence in the water or refining stroke technique with more advanced swimmers, Abby’s patience, enthusiasm, and genuine care shine through in every lesson.
We’re so grateful for everything she brings to our team and know our RLS Swim families feel the same!
Miss Heidi
Heidi and Alyssa have shared a friendship for many years. Their families have grown up together, with all four of their children born within months of one another and attending the same childcare center for over 10 years. Their shared passion for raising confident, capable kids eventually brought them together in an even bigger way.
Alyssa had the privilege of teaching three of Heidi’s children through ISR. After completing their ISR program, Heidi wanted them to continue building on those life-saving skills. She quickly realized that many traditional swim programs weren’t focused on advancing the confidence, independence, and technical skills she was looking for.
When she learned about the growth of RLS Swim Academy and the opportunity to help build a program that aligned with those values, she didn’t hesitate. She jumped in to join!
In January 2025, Miss Heidi officially joined the RLS Swim Academy team, and she has been making an incredible impact ever since. Her passion for helping children succeed, combined with her ability to challenge and encourage swimmers at the right pace, has helped many of our students’ progress beyond basic swim lessons. Several of her swimmers have advanced to the point of testing out of our program and even ready to move on to competitive swimming. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication, enthusiasm, and the positive influence she has on every family she works with!
